Update: Talk about turnaround! Jobs is now offering all iPhone early-adopters a $100 Apple Store credit
Steve Jobs himself has been officially quoted as saying, “If they bought it this morning, they should go back to where they bought it and talk to them. If they bought it a month ago, well, that's what happens in technology." That translates into no refunds for you, unless you bought your iPhone within the past two weeks.

So to the thousands, maybe millions, of you that are angered at the $200 price drop after only 2 month, my condolences, but as the man himself said, “That’s what happens in technology”. Really if you consider the why it kind of makes sense, chances are the sum of the components, or maybe a single component (I am guessing the flash memory) came down in price.

Further, Steve went on to state that they were pursuing the marketing of the iPhone more aggressively and that was part of the reason the price was dropped, conveniently, just in time for the holiday season. So yeah, it kinda sucks, but just think, all your friends who are just now buying iPhones will be coming to you to see what’s really good.

this is still bullshit! $200 in only 2 MONTHS!
come on…the reason they dropped the price to the “real” price of $399 is because the phone wasnt selling as well as they thought it would. sure its selling alot. but at $650 to buy an 8g phone out the door you sure as fuck arent going to be moving them like ipod shuffles.
so steve decided to stop being greedy on the per-unit level and decided that BULK greediness was better.
fuck you apple. i’ve never been raped so bad by any company before in my life. plus…the phone does have alot of drawbacks…like…umm…the fucking AT&T network that totally sucks!
go to hell Steve-o! and apple. ive been a fanboy for years, but i will never be an early adopter for their products again!
You guys are slow to react. Jobs has posted a letter offering a $100 credit on the Apple site to us early adopters. Take a deep breath.
Whoever wrote this post should be banned for being a fucking retard

It made no sense, prices for parts come down but not within 2 months. Give me a break
i wrote this, and if you actually look at component prices and the speed at which newer, better, cheaper components are released you will see they do fluctuate A LOT! even i know better than to think that just the flash memory dropped $200, I am sure Apple is taking a bit of a hit on the price as well, and there were probably other components like the multi-touch LCD that came down in price, thats why i said the sum of the components, but i put an emphasis on the flash drive because it and the LCD are probably the two most expensive components in the phone.
