As you may have heard, Apple struck a deal with Best Buy a few days ago to sell the iPhone semi-exclusively starting September 7. But one analyst has noticed this may not be a very great deal for Best Buy, at least in the sales department. In fact, Best Buy stands to earn a maximum of $50 per phone.
Despite ...

The ongoing reception issues faced by many iPhone 3G users may be due to its Infineon 3G chipset and the protocol stack that it uses, according to Nomura Securities analyst Richard Windsor. In a research note released today, Windsor pointed the blame at Infineon as presumed 3G chipset supplier and suggested that their "immature" protocol software was key to the ...

I've noticed a trend. There seems to be quite a few games for the iPhone that follow in the footsteps of Tetris and Bejeweled. But Trism by Demiforce, LLC, does have its unique aspects, allowing it to stand apart from these staples and create a new name for itself, namely due to its excellent utilization of the iPhone's accelerometer.
Trism requires ...

It's always interesting to see how different analysts come up with numbers. Take for instance the raw cost of materials for the new iPhone 3G. Portelligent released their estimates not long ago which suggested that Apple's cost was only roughly $100. Well iSuppli has taken a look and come up with a drastically different figure.

As of now, we don't know of any plans for AT&T to release a pre-paid plan for the iPhone 3G (in fact AT&T has said that they won't be doing this at all, but you never know). Of course this isn't the case overseas where many carriers will offer this choice. So just how many new iPhones will be pre-paid? ...

There has been much speculation as to just how much money Apple is getting from AT&T this time around. According to Yair Reiner at Oppenhiemer, they should be getting roughly the same amount of money from the carrier. The only difference is that they're getting most of their money up-front this time.

I'm sure that everyone remembers the number of people lining up for iPhones last year, and the concern over supply versus demand. Can we expect a similar demand for the new iPhone 3G? Morgan Stanley says that it's going to be even bigger this time around.

Who wants a 3G iPhone? I sure do, and I'd be willing to bet a good many of you do too. So who doesn't want one? Roughly 91% of the Japanese population. What's interesting is that even less people in Japan are interested in the iPhone 3G than they were about the original iPhone.

Some people might be wondering why the new iPhone 3G is going to be so cheap in comparison to the first-gen device. While it's easy to point out that Apple is likely getting more money from AT&T, rather than relying on actual sales of the device, that's not the only reason. Analysts suspect that the newer iPhone really only costs ...

A little light has been shed on what exactly Apple has planned for P.A. Semi, that is recently acquired for $278 million. It is rumored that prior to this acquisition, Apple had invested in P.A. Semi back in 2005. You will remember back in 2005, Apple switched from PowerPC to Intel chips. At the time P.A. Semi was operating with ...
