Who wants a 3G iPhone? I sure do, and I’d be willing to bet a good many of you do too. So who doesn’t want one? Roughly 91% of the Japanese population. What’s interesting is that even less people in Japan are interested in the iPhone 3G than they were about the original iPhone.

Unfortunately the survey conducted by iSHARE isn’t very clear as to why those polled aren’t interested in the new iPhone. Some suggested reasons are that the carrier SoftBank is a relatively small player in the Japanese market, as well as the lack of removable battery and inability to play 1Stg digital TV.

WOW so 9% of the Japanese population want an iPhone. Thats a massive market share for a single handset.
Honestly speaking
Iphone has a great OS on it, it is almost similar to the architecture of modern computers OSs, however, the hardware that they put into it is primitive compared to today’s technology, and the first iphone generation wouldn’t be that popular if it was not been unlocked jail broken and have hundreds of cool applications taking advantage of the OS, what’s new in the 3G iphone other then the word 3G!!!…. it wouldn’t be that popular as the first one since it is not going to be available for us with out a contract for the very same 399.
I think the main reason Japanese do not want the Iphone is because of one thing, the Camera, Japan had 2 megapixels 5 years ago they are now using 5 megapixel as standard, Apple have shot them self’s in the foot with the camera everyone wants & will buy the iphone in Europe but after a few night out when all there friends take photos & videos they will be ashamed to get there phones out, I whish apple had just put a 3 megapixel camera in the Iphone 3G
I liked the iphone when it first came out and really really really wanted one, until!!! Until I heard more about it! Yes like anything Apple its sexy and a trend setter for design. However, compared to what the competitors like Blackberry and HTC in particular come out with, the iphone is not that great…no just the camera…the main thing for me is the perffered network provider crap Apple have started…phones are more and more like computers these days and when I use my computer, I want flexibility, i want to be able take my devise from one place to another and not worry about “O! is it compatible”. This is the same reason I didn’t buy an ipod…I just want to copy my mp3s from computer to mp3 player I don’t care for all the conversion and crap that go with Apples ipod and Sony’s walkman MP3 things both of which require conversion of mp3 files to other formats….
This issue of flexibility is a bigger problem with phones…I don’t want to have to change my phone number to be able to use an iphone nor do I want to have to take the phone to an apple store and have it shipped away to apple when the battery finally can’t hold a charge i also like to have the option to use external storage if I run out of internal storage!!!
The only thing that really grabs my attention about the iphone is the Homebrew hacks that have been developed now!!! This was the reason I got my Sony PSP, and now I read books and journals and do other stuff on it.
