Two new iPhones have surfaced in the firmware for the AppleTV device. The current iPhone 4 is 3,1 according to Apple and the new devices in the firmware are listed as 3,2 and 3,3.

According to Apple Insider, the upcoming iPhone 3.1 - tipped in the latest Apple firmware leak - will use the Broadcom BCM4329 wireless chip. That chip is known to support advanced power saving features, WiFi draft-n and FM receiving and transmitting, suggesting the new iPhone may be able to stream music to a car stereo.

Word travels fast and Apple has already seeded the beta of the iPhone firmware version 2.2 today. But that's not all. Apparently, the firmware includes a beta of the iPhone SDK build 9M2611 as well.

The iPhone 2.0.2 software update came out today and though its intent was unspecific ("bug fixes") it looks as if the results are truly impressive. Vincent tested OS 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 side by side in a series of speed tests using Mobile Safari and the results speak for themselves.

Well, it looks like the iPhone isn't out of the woods yet. Since the recent 2.0.1 update, my phone has been running faster, typing has gotten smoother and my apps crash much less often. However, some users are reporting many issues with the phone's GPS system.
