The iPhone 2.0.2 software update came out today and though its intent was unspecific ("bug fixes") it looks as if the results are truly impressive. Vincent tested OS 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 side by side in a series of speed tests using Mobile Safari and the results speak for themselves.

Well, it looks like the iPhone isn't out of the woods yet. Since the recent 2.0.1 update, my phone has been running faster, typing has gotten smoother and my apps crash much less often. However, some users are reporting many issues with the phone's GPS system.

Looks like you're really going to want to disable Airplane mode before installing the iPhone OS 2.0.1 update. Failing to do so can result in a bricked phone. How do you know this has happened? You may see an error message like this:
“Information for activation cannot be obtained from the iPhone”
