Looks like you're really going to want to disable Airplane mode before installing the iPhone OS 2.0.1 update. Failing to do so can result in a bricked phone. How do you know this has happened? You may see an error message like this:
“Information for activation cannot be obtained from the iPhone”
Or this:
“iTunes could not update the carrier settings on your ...

One of people's biggest complaints about the iPhone last time around was the lack of flexibility when it came to SIM card use. You simply could not switch out the SIM card--even to a different AT&T one!

But now with the iPhone OS 2.0 update, you can use all of those AT&T ...

Windows users have practically been given the cold shoulder when it comes to Pwning their iPhone. The WinPwn project launched to try and help out, by porting the Pwnage tool to Windows, which up until now has been a Mac only affair. The beta for WinPwn launched last month, with a final version promised in the next few days.

All iPhones that were bricked after attempting a firmware upgrade from an unlocked iPhone can now get their iPhones back by upgrading to Apple's latest v1.1.3 firmware. Put the iPhone in recovery mode, and hook your brick up to your computer to start iTunes. After restoring and upgrading, iTunes will not automatically activate your iPhone so you will have to ...

Over at the Hackint0sh forums, a couple of people decided to unlock their iPhone, little did they know, opening their phone after completing the software, was not such a great idea. At least they now have a door stop, brick, frisbee, and tons of other useful tasks.
We were so happy, all the software part was done, so we started opening ...

So to the simple-minded like myself, what does this mean? It means they are close to an unlock for 1.1.1.
They are also working towards some sort of a solution for the numerous bricks out there. We have already reported the fact that iPhoneSIMFree already has a solution, and that it already fixes your bricked products, so if you have the ...

Somehow you are able to use your iPhone’s contact list to access the web. There are 9 steps all of which involve only the iPhone, no computer necessary, and then you are sort of able to surf the web with Safari and your selected WiFi network.
It involves a lot of iPhone freezes, so if your preciously pricey device freezing up ...

So, in the no big surprise there category, iPhoneSIMFree, the people who make money from unlocking phones, have figured out a way to unlock version 1.1.1 phones. What was nice about the iPhoneSIMFree unlock when apple release 1.1.1 was that those phones weren’t bricked, just re-locked back to AT&T.
So, even better than iPhoneSIMFree releasing a 1.1.1 unlock, is that the ...

Yesterday we got the preliminary Jailbreak, today we have 3rd party native apps running smoothly. So far the Colloquy IRC client and the NES emulator work.
They also got access to the Sprinboar, which means you don’t have to use the command line to launch apps. You can apparently add up to 15 apps to the Springboard.

Yeah, I know this won’t be the first, it won’t even be the first pertaining to the iPhone, but they are trying to get a class action suit together over the new firmware and the lack of warranty service. There appears to be two separate groups, the first is all those that did something that might have voided their warranty ...

Little comfort to those who face bricking their unlocked iPhones or languishing on old firmware forever, but the iPhone DevTeam have been pretty unequivocal at accusing Apple of taking the, let's say, AT&T pleasing option when it comes to constructing their upgrade. As they told Gizmodo:
"Apple has multiple ways of upgrading the [firmware of the] baseband [radio chip] without committing ...

Well, you can wait for the iPhone Dev Team to come up with a solution, and you know they will, they are the gods of the iPhone, I really don’t see why Apple doesn’t just put them on payroll and save us all the hassle. Or, you can lie.
Here is the deal, Apple’s latest firmware somehow changes the IMEI of ...
