That a 3G iPhone is coming is no surprise, but it's unusual to hear someone deeply involved with the handset directly refer to it. At a CTIA Wireless luncheon today, AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega told reporters that he expected 3G compatibility from all of their smart integrated devices in the next couple of months.
When asked by Sascha Segan from PC Mag if that included the iPhone, de la Vega clarified:
"Let me repeat what I said: I think that you're going to see our integrated devices be 3G devices in the not-too-distant future, and I mean months. That should be clear enough" Ralph de la Vega, CEO, AT&T
Now unless Apple have decided to give the 3G iPhone to another carrier, this looks pretty conclusive evidence that we'll be seeing the new model sooner rather than later.
It's unclear how the BlackBerry Pearl 8120, that AT&T announced in March and which is EDGE-only, fits in with de la Vega's prediction.
