Iphone 3.0 : MMS and Copy-n-Paste features get official

Two years late but better than never, the most-asked-for feature — Copy and Paste — is finally here for iPhone 3.0. It didn’t arrive as a surprise to us as it was disclosed by Digg founder, Kelvin Rose, couple days before the event took place. That, together with MMS support are being addressed at today’s Apple event.

To select text, users would double-tap on it to bring up the cut/copy/paste bubble above, then get a grab point at the end of the selection. For larger portion of text, use the double tap feature and slide your finger or thumb along to bring up a magnifying glass to show precise position, then highlight everything you want to include. According to Scott Forstall, it will work on all applications including the web content!

So Rose was right about the Copy-n-Paste but not his prediction on Multimedia Messaging Service. Apple went ahead to include MMS feature on upcoming iPhone 3.0 for photo, audio and contact files but no words on motion video. In a nutshell, iPhone 3.0 finally allows users to send multimedia files in the form of SMS (Short Message Service).

I don’t think Rose “Disclosed” anything. He guessed on a couple of things and got one right. I think that’s an “F” for a grade.

Everyone pretty much knew copy and paste would be included this time around.

Well, that sums up Rose’s “prediction”. One good guess work for an expert, an “F” effort! :)
