Steve has officially announced that you will now be able to make your own ringtones for the iPhone. The cost will be $.99 plus the cost of the song, no word whether it will work with non-itunes purchased songs.

a dollar to make a ringtone when we can make it for free?? outragous!
Makes no sense to me! First they drop $200 off of the iPhone, which they should give us folks who bought the iPhone 2 months ago, free incentives, ringtones, movies, songs, etc. Secondly, they are going to charge an additional .99 cent on top of the price for one song! Give us a break Apple, SERIOUSLY! I say just purchase iPhone Ring Tone maker or iToner for $14.99 and convert unlimited music, which means, all songs in any of your music libraries, CD’s or whatever and sync to your iPhone. I use the ring tone maker and it works superbly, and its not a hack! so its super easy to use.
“a dollar to make a ringtone when we can make it for free?? outragous!”
- A dollar to buy a song when you can steal it for free??? Nonsense!
$14.99 for iToner – am I going to need 15 different ringtones?
McD
Is not so much that you are going to need 15 ringtones which I know many, many people that do, but is the principal of it, I already have ton’s of songs and NO I DIDN’T Steal them, I converted them from my 250+ CD’s to iTunes so I could put on my iPod, so know Apple is telling me that not only I have to purchase those same songs again, but that I also have to purchase the ringtones, even though I already have about 4 different software that I’ve purchase that can do that. It’s all a scam, I’m with you EilandMeisje.
