Somebody tell Steve: the hackers are getting faster.  Less than a day has passed since Apple pushed the 1.1.2 firmware update out the door, and already a hacker by the handle of planetbeing has managed to Jailbreak the iPod Touch.  As this screenshot indicates, the PMP is using the latest version of Apple's software but, since to transfer a screenshot you need a Jailbroken phone running third-party software, it's obviously been surreptitiously finagled.

iPod Touch Jailbreak with firmware v1.1.2

No instructions as to how to do it yourself, nor a hint of how planetbeing and the rest of the team managed it; apparently it's going through debugging and security checks prior to a release.  There's also no definitive word on whether the same fix will work on the iPhone; given UK and German iPhone buyers will likely have 1.1.2 pre-installed, there'll be plenty of people hoping the hack community has already come up with a way for them to make the most of their new toys.

Turns out the 1.1.2 update allows for the cheesy-easy ringtune hack with iTunes 7.4.0. Remember that hack? Well, now those ringtones will actually play on your phone with 1.1.2. This hack does require iTunes 7.4.0.
