And not like the Iceman like you have to do a hard reset and lose all your unsaved work. Word from the Apple crew is that it’s the nifty little ATI Radeon cards that are FUBARing things.

Wanna know what the worst part is? You guessed it, Apple has no solution so far.
I wouldn’t go packing up your new iMac for a recall or return just yet, they are obviously going to do everything they can to fix the problem with software. However if they can’t fix it with a patch or other update, then you may just have to send in your iMac for repairs, so a backup wouldn’t be a bad idea, that way there is less to backup when the time comes.

Yeah it’s a bit annoying really. I was planning on getting a new one to replace my core duo when leopard comes out. Looks like I’m going to have to wait till these issues are worked out.

My one-month-old imac started buzzing today. I found that if I increase the brightness of the display to maximum, it stops. Every time I reduce the brightness to less than about 90%, the buzzing starts and gets worse as the brightness is adjusted lower and lower. Sounds like an EMF issue between internal electronics that could be resolved with proper shielding or an adjustment in the frequency used to decrease the display brightness.
