Everyone knows that it’s hard to get your hands on an iPhone 3G these days. But that’s to be understood. After all, with a worldwide release, the iPhone is in serious demand, pulling Apple stock a bit thin. Even so, the 16GB model is running out much quicker than all other models. 
My basic assumption is that people are merely going after the largest capacity possible because they know the iPhone 3G cannot be updated. Even though it costs more, gadget hungry consumers are definitely favoring the 16GB model, as per the iPhone availability tool.

Ordered a 16gb black phone 12 days ago from ATT. It’s still back ordered.
I ordered two 8gb iPhones on the 20th and they’re arriving in my local store tomorrow via FedEx NDA, and I’m in Tallahassee, FL.
hey i have the same problem as john!!I went out to the ATT store on July 19th and i ordered my iphone!!And I tried going to cingular.com/order_status/order_status and i inserted my information there and they caint seem to track it!!has anyone had this problem!the lady at the ATT store told my it was going to take about 6-10 days and its already been 1 week and 4 dayz!!PLEASE HELP ME OUT SOMEONE!
the website is down about half the time. way to many hits slowing it down i’m sure. try reloading again & it will eventually come back up. you can also try it over the phone. you’ll need your order number from the email they sent you.
oh you see the poblem is that i gave the lady at the apple store my email adress,and i still havent got anything!
got mine today. rcvd an email & fedex showed it being delivered. an hour later i got the call. it all went pretty fast. total time= 13 days. phone activated and works great so far.
