Don't want to order a TurboSIM to unlock your iPhone?  Would you rather take a soldering iron to your handset's guts and do things the hard way?  Well, the #iphone.unlock team are pronouncing success with a full hardware unlock done by particularly intrusive methods: while they're planning on waiting a week to reveal all, we do know it involves opening up your iPhone and adding components that are only needed for the unlock process itself, and after which you remove them and are left with a lovely, unfettered Jesus phone.

More excitingly, though, the team is suggesting that a software-based hack - i.e. one which doesn't rely on clever SIM cards or fussing around with soldering irons - could be as little as a week away.  In fact the belief is that, when they do disclose the step-by-step instructions, they'll be software based only and not require an operation that could brick your precious handset.
