While the standard Google search page can't exactly be called crowded, the results it produces still aren't set out in the best way for an iPhone's screen. That's why they've quietly launched a specific search page for the Apple cellphone, which you can find at http://www.google.com/uds/samples/iphone/isearch.html
There's nothing new in terms of features, just access to the usual web, news and image search functionality with a nice big finger-friendly "Search" button. Considering the convoluted address, however, it looks like Google has more in mind for the page when it finally gets a proper release (or, knowing Google, a lengthy Beta release!)

If you find what you’re looking for on the first page, things should be fine. However, should you need more results, google kicks ya’ right back to the original format of the website —- booo!
The long URL is not a problem. On the iPhone’s Safari browser, if you enter “google” in the address bar, the phone first goes to “www.google.com”, then at Google they somehow know you’re on an iPhone and they append “/m” to the URL, which automatically loads the iPhone-formatted Google results.
In fact, from the iPhone Safari address bar, you cannot get to the standard Google results page! If you backspace to manually remove the “/m” (so the address is simply “www.google.com”), the resulting page gets the “/m” appended again so you see the iPhone Google results.
Ironically, if Google is your default search engine in iPhone Safari, search results currently come up using the standard Google results format. Perhaps in the future this will change to the new Google iPhone results format.
