Unlike many I’m yet to jump on the Facebook wagon, but for those of you desperate for round the clock contact with your Wall then the social networking site has just released the iPhone app for you. It’s a very slick implementation of Facebook formatted for the iPhone’s mobileSafari browser, complete with animated tab switching, sensible accommodation of the handset’s finger-friendly interface and even the ability to make a call directly from a friend’s profile. We’ve got a full interface walkthrough gallery of the new app, possibly the best third-party interface on Apple’s cellphone to date.

You can tell they’ve worked hard to keep the interface as in keeping with Apple’s as possible; scrolling through lists works just the same way, even down to the pop-up letters, and seemingly without too much impact on loading speed when using EDGE. Vincent has been trying it out and has come away very impressed – even to the point where he’s considering using Facebook just to enjoy the app!

Access the mobile site here: http://iphone.facebook.com/ and make sure to check out the rest of our interface gallery here.
