Eagle-eyed iPhone lover pixelperfect over at the MacTalk forums has been poring over the official Apple "Welcome/Guided Tour" video (probably trying to kill some time until the handset makes it outside of the US) and has spotted what looks like a Flash-based mp3 player interface shown on the mobileSafari browser.

Seen 22 seconds into the video, it's a simple set of controls on the nytimes.com page underneath a story with an mp3 link.
"I believe that Apple will eventual allow for third party app's to be written for the iPhone, and flash will be coming eventually. Also, it is interesting to notice that the same shot also has the "Aqua" look of the popdown menu on the top of the page... So this may very well be a very early pre production unit" pixelperfect
Now as we all know (and lament) Apple have yet to implement general Flash support for the iPhone, which leaves pixelperfect to theorise that they either mocked up the video demonstration using a desktop version of Safari or, alternatively, early pre-production handsets had Flash but it was removed due to instability or some other reason.

Could just be a mockup of what it *might* look like and not the actual product/feature as it will go to market.
“‘pouring’ over”?
“‘pouring’ over”?
Yeah, probably not gushing, but poring — “being absorbed in the reading or study of” and it’s interesting that absorbency figures there, too.

we already knew about this flash support in the video. And jobs already said flash would be coming. Need proof, go to my website.
Chris, I posted about this over a month ago on my blog and I think it was picked up by macsurfer.com. The little mp3 player you see is indeed Flash. And so is that large cropped photo just beneath it. Go to the NYtimes website and you’ll see that the column to the left of the main story holds three stories (sometimes less). Stories can have little mp3 podcasts associated with them. Beneath _that_ mp3 player that you see in the Welcome ad is the large video player area where you can choose from 4 videos to watch on that same page.

It would ruin one thing for certain, right now all those irritating flash ads get nuked. Since there’s no adblocker plugin yet, I’m quite content not having Flash support.
Looks like someone got flash working:

Flash support would be nice, nevertheless, flash is not a web standard and maybe apple is trying to push for HTML 5.0+ and Ajax compatibility!
