AT&T paying Apple up to $415 for each iPhone sold

by Chris Davies on July 24, 2007

Considering Apple was adamant that the iPhone wouldn't be carrier-subsidised (the usual practise of selling a handset cheaply with a new contract, the operator making the money back via call charges and line rental), AT&T's pockets must still be feeling light after news emerged that they're paying Jobs & co between $150 and $200 for each handset sold.   continued »

“Slumped” iPhone sales disappoint investors

by Chris Davies on July 24, 2007

The astonishing first-week sales of the iPhone were hailed as evidence that the so-called Jesus Phone had usurped all others, vindicating the loyalty (aka fandom) of the Apple faithful and fulfilling Jobs' pledge to revolutionise the cellphone industry.  But as expectations for the handset have been boosted high, disappointing activation numbers reported by AT&T have proved a reality check for Apple and investors alike.   continued »

iPhone Shuffle becomes reality

by Chris Davies on July 24, 2007

As soon as someone comes up with a daft idea you can be pretty sure that there'll be another who'll make it real.  In the run up to the iPhone's launch a common joke was the idea of Apple making an iPhone Shuffle - no screen like the compact DAP, just a single button which would dial a random number.  Well, if you've always wanted to make new friends and ... continued »

Samsung P520 is compact iPhone competitor

by Chris Davies on July 24, 2007

Looking a little like an iPhone that has been through a hot-wash, Samsung's recently announced P520 cellphone might be the ideal non-Apple alternative for those with smaller hands or pockets. That 262k colour, QVGA touchscreen - measuring around 2.6-inches ... continued »

It feels amazingly lightweight and yes, another shocker is that it stays put! I didn't have any problems pairing the headset to the iPhone because they simply paired up on their own. It was that simple. continued »

World’s first unboxing: iPhone Bluetooth Headset

by Vincent Nguyen on July 23, 2007

Related:Video: Unboxing the Apple iPhone Bluetooth Headset and hands-on review The first set of unboxing images courtesy of nomad7674 appeared on flickr today! I found one of the first released Apple Bluetooth Headsets today in the Apple Store in Marlton, NJ today. My quick search did not find anyone else who had posted pics of an unboxing, so I figured I might as well try to be first. The unit is tiny, ... continued »

iPhone simplicity let down by AT&T bill horror

by Chris Davies on July 23, 2007

Got an iPhone?  Had your first AT&T bill through yet?  You might be in for a surprise - David Pogue certainly was, when a small tree's-worth of paper dropped through his letterbox.  "It’s a staggeringly, hatefully complex document, designed by some Monty Pythoneseque committee in charge of consumer confusion" continued »
