Either things aren't going to plan in Apple's product development lab, or the company's PR people are working overtime; Mehdi Hosseini, an analyst with Friedman Billings Ramsey & Co. Inc, is quoted as saying that the second-generation (e.g. 3G) iPhone has been pushed back "from the March/April time frame to mid to late summer" [via MacNN]. It comes not long ...

Seemingly solid confirmation that Apple have a 3G iPhone waiting - or at least being polished up - in the wings for a 2008 launch came this week from AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson, and with it a rise in Apple stock price from $180.22 to in excess of $184. The 3G handset, which is set to answer criticisms from reviewers ...

Another day, another 3G iPhone rumor; this time it's that Vodafone will be simultaneously launching a 3G version of Apple's cellphone in all its European markets come next Spring. The story, reported by Italian site Morse.IT, claims a UMTS version of the iPhone will be announced after Christmas (or possibly at the MacWorld Expo early next year) in order not ...

All you US and UK iPhone owners, spare a few moments for the poor Spanish cellphone-loving populous who, if carrier Telefonica had their way, would be able to buy the coveted handset this Christmas but, thanks to Apple being supposedly unable to supply sufficient stocks, will now have to wait until May next year. The rumour of shortages originated from ...

The boys over at Gizmodo have been polishing, peering into and generally chanting at their crystal balls, prompted by a press release from chip manufacturer Broadcom. It turns out that Broadcom's latest 3G HSUPA-capable processor - the BCM21551 - might just be the salvation for those people seriously frustrated by the lack of anything faster than EDGE networking in the ...

Is Vodafone really that cocky that they’d already start talking about negotiations for a deal with Apple upon the release of a 3G version? Well I guess they are as their CEO is quoted saying they would “absolutely” deal with Apple to carry the 3G version of the handset.
Apparently the biggest problem that Vodafone, and I would assume other carriers ...

Apple has been busy, but apparently they are hoping to get a lot busier. Word on the street is they are actually hoping to nearly double their current production numbers for the iPhone.
The new plan sets the number at 2.7 million handsets to be produced this quarter. That means a huge increase from the initial 1.54 they were initially shooting ...

We have a video of Steve answering this very question. Clearly I wasn’t the only one that was curious.
He doesn’t just give a simple answer why and then try and move on either, the video is actually worth a watch. The summary is that the battery life for a 3G iPhone just isn’t good enough right now.

It could be, but probably not. There are several obvious things wrong with the ad and they all ad up pointing to this just being a decent shop job.
The first is the price, 499 euros would put this device at around $684 USD. Some of which is surely accountable for the 16GB of storage, sure they did it in the ...

InterDigital’s pockets are feeling a considerable amount fatter and its looking more and more like the European release of the iPhone may bring a 3G version of the Jesus-Phone. The deal is for InterDigital to supply Apple with “2G and 3G technologies” for seven years, hopefully by then we’ll have moved well past even 4G let alone even be thinking ...
