Loading ...It seems like ages since we've had a good Canadian iPhone rumour, so just in time comes Digital Journal's hush-hush insider information that luxury retailer Holt Renfrew will be carrying the 8GB cellphone come mid-October. That would put a north-of-the-border (as long as your border is between America and Canada, of course) launch just a couple of weeks away; Holt Renfrew themselves are confirming nothing, but the source was "adamant" the cellphone's arrival - priced at $799 - was imminent.
The plot thickens, however. Further sources inside the retailer have claimed that the iPhone Holt Renfrew will be selling is unlocked and ready for any GSM SIM. Now that, of course, sounds like no business deal Apple have agreed anywhere else, and makes me particularly dubious, but since going public Digital Journal have had multiple confirmations from within the company.
What does this mean? Well, it means that the spirit of rumour and intrigue doesn't fade once you get outside of the USA. Anything other than that is too intangible to count upon right now, but with the estimated launch date mere days away, we won't have to wait too long to find out whether Digital Journal's sources were correct.

Holt Renfrew is nonsense and $799.00 is a foolish idea.
I have heard from a Rogers representative just 2 nights ago that the iPhone will have either a December 20 release date in Canada, or it will be early January. The only hangup is the data plan (no surprise). I heard this at a Costco kiosk as another guy was showing off his iPhone.
