So a while back I wrote a story about how most of the European companies that were getting the iPhone had some pretty strict data usage policies, O2 being one of them. Well, as of now, O2 is awaiting November 9th, the day when the iPhone will actually go on sale in the UK, and they have lifted the specified data cap.

Their policy now reads that there isn’t a data cap, but if your data usage starts interfering with the network usage of other customers, you will be sent a warning, and then if it doesn’t stop you’ll be cut off. So, it’s a bit more fair, but far less specific, and personally, somewhat disturbing that they are using a reference point that a user can’t monitor or control to determine whether you are using too much data.
They have control over their data network and they are the only ones that know how much data traffic it takes to start putting a strain on it, so how is a user to know how much is is too much? Oh well, I guess you just hope that you don’t ever hit that limit and I reckon you try and stay on the Cloud network as much as possible.
