One of our more active posts here on MYiTablet is Vincent's guide to setting up Exchange on the iPhone.  Now it's not a proper push-email solution, so don't go rushing over there and then become upset and belligerent, but according to Sven Rafferty we should only have a month or two to wait until Apple flicks the switch on a Direct Push upgrade.

iPhone Mail - is Push Email coming in next couple of months?

Many reviews have criticised the iPhone's potential as a business device (even though Apple themselves don't really position it as such) because of the lack of instant email which Blackberry-addicted workers are so reliant on.  In fact the Mail application on the handset has been roundly derided for being a tad basic.  Now, a source at an Exchange ISV has told Sven that not only will the updated Mail support over-the-air syncing of messages but contacts and calendar events as on other platforms.

Whether or not you use an Exchange server, the possibility of an update so soon into the iPhone's life cycle is promising when you consider the number of times you read "...but could be sorted with a software update" in reviews and editorials.  Bring on the updates, I say!

Man, I can hardly wait!!! I need this for work and I’m getting sick of logging in via SecurID through Outlook Web browsing. I guess it’s better than nothing though!
