A recent interview with Apple's VP or Worldwide iPod and iPhone Product Marketing Greg Joswiak cleared up a few lingering questions about the iPhone 3G. First, the lack of cut-and-paste functionality is simply due to the fact that it wasn't very high on their list of features to get into the phone. Video proof of jailbroken 2.0 software
I have to say that I'm perfectly happy with my non-jailbroken iPhone, even if AT&T has disappointed me with their lack of 3G coverage. iPhone launch impressions from the Midwest
The iPhone 3G is here! I've only just gotten back from the iPhone launch at the Lafayette Indiana AT&T store. I showed up at around midnight to find only 7 people in front of me. By six the line had grown to around 20 or so, and by the time the store opened, there were around fifty total.

App Store is open for business
So it seems that you can actually get to the applications on iTunes already. There's no link (that I've seen) to the App store, however, do a quick search for AIM, which we already know is a confirmed app. You'll then see the AIM app, and after it is downloaded, you can click the "Get More Applications" button at the bottom right corner of the Applications section.

iPhone Apps must be submitted by July 7th for launch date inclusion
If you're a developer that wants your shiny new iPhone App in the store on launch day, you'd better be putting the final touches on it. Apple has begun sending out emails to various developers, letting them know that they will need to submit their App no later than Monday July 7th. Any later than this, and your App won't be there for launch day.

For those of you looking to upgrade from the original iPhone to it's 3G big brother, it looks like you're going to have another option for your old phone. Rather than wiping the data and selling your older iPhone, it seems you can still use it as an iPod.
