iPod Touch can run the same applications as the iPhone
Word on the street is that the new iPod Touch runs the same OS and uses the same binaries as the iPhone. After yesterday we all already knew that the two operating systems looked the same, and that the iPod touch already has almost all of the same applications and the same data entry and all the same iPod type functions that came with the iPhone.

iPod Touch Accessories
So with the advent of the new iPod Touch what can we expect in the way of accessories? It's thinner than the iPhone and the newly-named iPod Classic, so what can you use with the iPod Touch?

Recap, for those that missed it, here is what the stone tablets handed down from Cupertino had carved into them.
First, there was the launch of the new version of iTunes, that’s nice. This added the ability to make your own ringtones from iTunes purchased songs for an additional $.99 per use.
Second, there were the new colors for the Shuffle. It was also added to the PRODUCT (RED) line.

Starbucks has struck a deal where the WiFi iPhones and iPods will be able to monitor the playlist inside the shop. You will also be able to purchase the currently playing song as well as any of the 10 previous songs played. Free WiFi for iPods and iPhones for the iTunes Music Store.

It works almost exactly like the iTunes store on your PC. There is a search function, a featured section.
Song Previews are available as well as downloads. The songs sync to your PC the next time you connect the iPod.

It has the full touchscreen controls. Took the interface from the iPhone and put it in an iPod.
It has the same multitouch interface as the iPhone too. There are even apps including calendar, clock, contacts, calc, settings, and more.
