iPhone Unlocking

iPhoneSIMFree has finally gone retail

by James Allan Brady on September 10, 2007

Four sites have already gone live retailing the iPhone unlocking. Here in the US we have Wireless Imports, then in Australia there is iPhoneWorldwideUnlock which presumably works worldwide, and they are the cheapest too, then there is 1digitalphone from Germany, and iPhone4arab in Saudi Arabia. The US retailer is charging $99 with the Australian one charging a mere $50. Other than price, the difference will likely come as soon as AT&T’s ... continued »

Rumor: iPhoneSIMFree has been purchased by another company

by James Allan Brady on September 8, 2007

I haven’t been able to confirm this on my own, and there is nothing distinctive on the site that says they have been bough out. There is a hint to the fact that the reason the software hasn’t been released is due to some “Technical Issues” with their business side of things. However, the people over at CrunchGear have apparently received and email from the company stating that the company’s operation ... continued »

New iPhone SIM card hack

by James Allan Brady on September 6, 2007

This one is performed without the use of a Turbo SIM, and looks to actually be easier. Plus, the last time I went to the Turbo SIM website, they either ceased selling them or were all sold out. The company says that it will not be selling to individuals, but you can buy licenses in bulk with the lowest number being 50 @ $32 each and the highest number being 5000 @ $25 each. They fact that they won’t sell ... continued »

Unlock from iPhoneSIMfree less than 72hrs away

by Chris Davies on August 29, 2007

You can't actually buy their software yet, but if - like, I confess, me - you enjoy reading the instructions and literature even for gadgets you don't own then you'll be wanting to take a browse through iphonesimfree.com's FAQ.  It contains all manner of juicy tidbits, but of course the one iPhone owners are most interested in is lucky number 13: 13. When can I get it?  We are hoping to release ... continued »

Was unofficial unlock on Apple’s iPhone roadmap all along?

by Chris Davies on August 28, 2007

Over at CNET Blogs, Don "Lips of a Vixen" Reisinger has installed fresh batteries into his ACME Conspiracy Finder and pointed it firmly at the head honchos over at Apple.  His belief: that not only will the company continue to sit on their hands and distract themselves with truffles over the spate of iPhone unlock methods, but that Steve Jobs in fact expected and wanted it to happen all along.   continued »
