Apple has been granted a patent on the cool page turning animation that you see when reading e-books on the company's gadgets. The patent is called "Display screen of portion thereof animated graphical user interface" and was one of 38 patents issued Apple recently.

Apple has announced that the App Store has now hit the 300,000 active apps milestone. The average number of new apps released each month since April is 12,218 on the iPhone and 5,452 on the iPad.

The only announcement that could have surprised me more than Apple approving Opera Mini for the iPhone would be Apple supporting Flash. I really expected Opera to be blocked, it will be cool to have an alternative browser.

Apparently, Apple and Microsoft are in talks to see Bing replace Google as the default search provider for the iPhone. Whether or not this will actually happen is unknown at this time.
