Apple seeking MultiTouch engineer for Mac line

Posted on 19 December 2007 by

Bearing in mind how tricky it can be to speculate hardware direction from both job adverts and patents, all signs continue to point toward a MultiTouch Apple tablet; most recently, Apple have advertised a new position with the Mac and iPod hardware groups for MultiTouch panel development, working on testing the hardware's reliability and comparing products from different suppliers.   Read the ... continued »

Microsoft planning MultiTouch rivals in Vista’s successor

Posted on 13 December 2007 by

Looks like Microsoft have decided they've had enough of hearing that the iPhone has "killed" traditional touchscreens.  Earlier this week, Microsoft software test engineer Hilton Locke spilt a tidbit about Windows Mobile 7, the follow-up to Vista: "If you are impressed by the "touch features" in the iPhone, you'll be blown away by what's coming in Windows 7" Hilton Locke, TabBlogger It ... continued »

MultiTouch patents point to large-panel Apple touchscreens

Posted on 23 November 2007 by

We're big fans of MultiTouch here at MY iTablet, and it looks like Apple feels the same way.  Three patents first filed shortly after the iPhone's US launch indicate that the technology is developing from the small-scale screens of their cellphone and its iPod Touch cousin into something more suitable for larger displays.  Unlike the current touchscreen, which can recognise ... continued »

Rumor: Apple releasing slate touchscreen device

Posted on 26 September 2007 by

Could it be another go at the Newton? Could it be My iTablet? Or could it be a MacBook Touch? Maybe an Apple UMPC? Right now no one knows for sure, what is known is that there are reports of a touchscreen device that is larger than the iPhone with a bigger, better, multi-touch touchscreen. What is also known is that ... continued »

Sharp Has A New Multi-Touch LCD Ready For Mobile Products

Posted on 31 August 2007 by

Could the next iPhone or the latest iteration of the iPod have this technology implemented into it? If Apple were to implement a multi-touch LCD like this into their devices the applications would be nearly endless. Just imagine being able to use multiple gestures at a time to edit videos and photos you just took with your iPhone. Another possible use ... continued »

More iPhone MultiTouch Issues: handset goes haywire

Posted on 20 August 2007 by

The random spate of iPhone touchscreen problems continues, with Shannon McMahon experiencing some particularly erratic behaviour from his handset.  Unlike previous issues - mainly taking the form of bands or patches of screen with reduced or no responsiveness - Shannon's iPhone decided to take a tour of its features by itself, activating its own virtual buttons and generally flying about ... continued »

iPhone MultiTouch Developers had same hardware failures as Apple

Posted on 13 August 2007 by

We're big fans of multi-touch interfaces and touchscreens in general here at MY iTablet, and you might recall some of the Onyx features our sister-site SlashGear ran back when the Synaptics concept was wowing iPhone-naive audiences.  Which makes it all the more disappointing to hear about those iPhone owners suffering dodgy, temperamental screens.  Now MarketWatch are reporting that the Finnish company ... continued »

Apple patent MultiTouch Gesture Dictionary

Posted on 02 August 2007 by

I'm beginning to wonder if Apple will have any time to develop actual products if their lust for patenting continues at its current rate.  It hardly seems like five minutes since the last one, yet already we're looking at the snappily-titled "MultiTouch Gesture Dictionary" - it describes a grouping of multi-fingered chords and movements that have either predefined or user-assigned functionality attached.   continued »

Apple touchscreen keyboard patent shows future of iPhone data entry

Posted on 01 August 2007 by

How intelligent do we want our keyboards to get?  There isn't much danger from an old Imperial typewriter - short of catching your finger between two keys and ending up with a blood-blister - but Apple's latest patent (note: 4MB pdf link) for an intelligent touchscreen keyboard might be a precursor to the human race being subjugated by QWERTY overlords.   continued »

The Multitouch technology that we're going to see in the iPhone just might be showing up in a new Apple touchscreen PC. This rumor stems from a statement regarding the successor to the current Logic software. “Basically the rumor is this: There will be no Logic 8. The successor to Logic 7 will have a new name. Quantum Research, a developer of capacitive sensors for user interface, officially stated it is not yet filing legal suit against Apple regarding Apple’s iPhone.
