If you have an iPhone 5 and have been counting the days until a jailbreak is available for the device, you may not have to wait much longer. Recently a member of the Chronic Dev Team announced that a full tethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5 is “close” to being done. For now, a developer account is needed to run the jailbreak.

The upside is that even if the tethered jailbreak won’t work for everyone, this means an untethered jailbreak may not be too far off. A pair of iPhone owners has filed a class-action suit against Apple in a San Francisco court. The two allege that Apple has violated section 2 of the Sherman act.
The suit alleges that Apple conspired with AT&T to lock iPhone users to the AT&T network for five years in a secret deal. The case is seeking money and to force Apple to give up software unlocks to free iPhones in the future.
