Even more iPhone applications surface

Yesterday’s WWDC keynote revealed all sorts of sweet new applications for the iPhone. These applications will all be among the first that will be launching with the App Store, which according to Steve we will be seeing in September. The applications include an eBay client, a native blogging application, tons of games, and even an application by the Associated Press, which is of course for news. Check out the coverage of these applications here.

First we have Zenbe Lists. This application is an enhanced version of a to do list. It can keep track of chores, and calender lists. The application allows for you to make lists where things can be checked off, and you can even sync the events with your contacts.

Next up are two games from Pangea software. The games are Enigmo, and CroMag Rally. CroMag rally is a racing game in which basically you race flintstones style cars. Enigmo is a puzzle game, in which you move around water droplets using your finger.

There are two new medical oriented applications that were shown off. These applications are Modality, which is a medical anatomy application for students. It is linked to Wikipedia and Google to provide more sources. The second is MIMvista, which allows doctors to view and manipulate PET and CT scan images from their iPhone.

Kooaba is one of the most interesting. It uses the relatively new concept of an image driven search. The application will allow you to point the iPhone’s camera at a movie poster, and then it will return information and show times on the movie. Although the posters are usually found in the theater, where that information can be found anyway. It is an awesome proof of concept though.

I thought Stevie said the app store along with the rest of the 2.0 update would be available in early July!!! So September had better be a typo or I’m gonna shove my iPhone up Stevies little ass!! Really though he just said yesterday it was coming early July. Did he push it back again?? Remember at first it was late June. If this is the case, I’m gonna have an iphone stained with the blood and feces of Steve Jobs! I’m tired of waiting for this shit.

  2. Cory – iPhone 2.0 is available in Early July which makes sense because the iPhone 3G is due out on July 11. AppStore will be available in 62 countries. If the app is under 10MB, you can download over the cellular network/WiFi/iTunes, but if it’s >10MB you need to download via WiFi/iTunes. App Store coming July 11.

Yeah, simmer down there Cory….(I kinda freaked out myself when I read the September statement) everything (other than the above article) I have read or watched (WWDC 208 Keynote) has said July 11th for the App store AND the 3G phone.

Great….games….has anyone considered using the iphone for something other than games, music and video?? Why would I consider this device for an enterprise when it can’t even perform complete calendar functions? Games? Wonderful. When I find I need yet another game device, I will take a look at iphone. As far as my day to day use of this device, there isn’t even a “week” view in the calendar and I rarely get to consider one day in isolation. Let me know when a future iteration comes along with a decent calendar function.
