It seems like it's been a few days since some wild and random speculation, so how about this for size: Apple and VW, partnering on the iCar. Got your attention? Well, that's what German newspaper Financial Times Deutschland is reporting, with the car maker confirming that Steve Jobs met with Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn several days to discuss potential collaboration ...

A few hours ago a video showing what appears to be a Nokia concept phone running an interface decidedly iPhone-like showed up on YouTube; people are already either salivating over it or branding the Finns dreadful copycats. Since I know nothing more than what I can see in the clip I won't pass judgement - it could be a new ...

So what do you do after you unlock the iPhone, try to sell the finished product on eBay, pull it because of spoof bids and then swap it for a Nissan 350Z and three more iPhones? Well, if you're 17-year-old superhacker George Hotz you go to college, get your schedule and then try to fit in working out a GPS-style ...

It hardly feels like thirteen minutes since Apple last had a "Special Event" (but then Vincent would tell me that every day with his iPhone is a special event), but unfurl your calendars and roughly circle September 5th because Jobs'n'co will be hitching up their waggon and flaunting their latest wares at the Moscone Center in sunny San Francisco.

A common complaint in UK reviews of Apple gadgets such as the video-capable iPod and the AppleTV has been the lack of TV downloads available on iTunes. Unlike our American compatriots there's been no catching up with Desperate Housewives or Lost unless we want to bittorrent them and mangle the format into something the Apple hardware will agree to play ...

The same guys who showed you how to put together a two-buck MultiTouch interface have also come up with software that takes the fun back to the iPhone: they've figured out how to access the handset's accelerometers, opening up all manner of twisty game and general iPhone wankery possibilities. Turns out that while it's possible to access the 3-axis data ...

You can't actually buy their software yet, but if - like, I confess, me - you enjoy reading the instructions and literature even for gadgets you don't own then you'll be wanting to take a browse through iphonesimfree.com's FAQ. It contains all manner of juicy tidbits, but of course the one iPhone owners are most interested in is lucky number ...

Fancy making your own MultiTouch interface? Well, there's a $2 DIY way of doing it, but be warned - it's not exactly pocket friendly! Over at Medallia they've posted this video of a rigged-up touch interface consisting of a plastic bag, water dyed blue and an Apple iSight camera.

And again with the class-action suits. Today's legal lunge is brought courtesy of Herbert H. Kliegerman, and his ire is prompted by a $2,000 roaming bill. Kliegerman, a resident of New York State, took his iPhone on a trip to Mexico where he made ample use of its email and web browsing facilities; he contends that Apple is guilty of ...

Over at CNET Blogs, Don "Lips of a Vixen" Reisinger has installed fresh batteries into his ACME Conspiracy Finder and pointed it firmly at the head honchos over at Apple. His belief: that not only will the company continue to sit on their hands and distract themselves with truffles over the spate of iPhone unlock methods, but that Steve Jobs ...

I should imagine that, as a third-party app programmer, the one thing worse than having your genitals hacked off by ninja badgers would be nobody using your software. And unfortunately marketing and publicity requires very different brain muscles from those necessary for coding, so it's not enough to assume that where one aptitude goes the other follows. Thankfully, the guys ...

As the equivalent of tattoos for your gadgets, laser engraving manages to provoke the same love it/hate it response - some view it as an awesome act of self-expression and personalisation, while others see it as a permanent marring of a tech toy and something guaranteed to kill resale values. Still, if you're a true geek you'll love the idea ...
