Marware's Sidewinder case for the iPhone is the Swiss Army knife of cases. First of all it’s a low-profile holster. The reversible-mounting holster lets you carry the iPhone face out for visibility or face in for maximum protection. I like the concept of a retractable management system and a slot for the Apple branded Bluetooth headset, but ...

The good doctor over at Macenstein writes an interesting editorial about how, despite his love for all things Apple, he let out a small cheer at the news that the iPhone sales had fallen short of predictions. Now before you holster up your pitchforks and lead a baying mob over there, let the man speak:
"I am an iPhone user. I ...

Right now, if you don't want to be tied into an AT&T contract you can unlock your iPhone and use it as a portable WiFi web-browser and video iPod. Although many - myself included - would see that as a terrible waste of some of the handset's much-vaunted convergence, the lure of Mobile Safari and all that video-playing goodness could ...

Another quarter, another record Apple profit - but will everyone be pleased? The Cupertino company have announced an $818 million profit in its fiscal third-quarter, with $5.41 billion in sales from April through June (a rise of 24-percent from the same period last year); sales of Macs and iPods are sky-high, shipping over 1.7 million of the former (up 33-percent) ...

Analysts and telco rivals alike accused them of demanding "corporate welfare", but it looks like Google's request for openness in the new cellular spectrum auction has struck some chords with the FCC. In a surprising move, a majority of the FCC supported a provision for one-third of the newly-available wireless space to be deemed "open access" so that any operator ...

While the standard Google search page can't exactly be called crowded, the results it produces still aren't set out in the best way for an iPhone's screen. That's why they've quietly launched a specific search page for the Apple cellphone, which you can find at http://www.google.com/uds/samples/iphone/isearch.html

Despite the hype around Google's Reader RSS client, I've been sticking with my original choice of NewsGator. Now, when we finally get the iPhone in the UK, I know that I'll be able to monitor my feeds on the move, since they've introduced an iPhone-friendly interface. MY iTablet took a look to see how well the desktop experience translates to ...

If you want custom ringtones but aren't too keen on following the community instructions for opening up your iPhone, then you might consider Efiko Software's iPhoneRingToneMaker. It looks to make creating your own ringtones from an MP3 (or WAV or OGG file) mightily straightforward - you can choose which section of the song to keep, add fades at either ...

Does your iPhone have SOCKS? No, not to keep its electronic feet warm (there's a toasty iPhone dock to do that), I'm talking about network proxies. It turns out that while AT&T and Apple decided you wouldn't want to use your handset as a tethered modem with your laptop, enterprising modders have given you the choice. It involves setting up ...

Despite having a healthy turnover of cellphones myself, I don't really like answering the phone. That goes double for when I don't recognise the number calling; I tend to let it go to voicemail and decide after that if I should call them back. Here's a quick tip if you're like me (crazy and paranoid, some might say): if you ...

If you're an auction hound addicted to eBay then we may just have the application for you. iPhoneMyeBay is an iPhone-formatted auction client from iPhoneAppLab; at the moment you can't search for items (although the wap.ebay.com portal for general cellphone use will allow that) but it can track and monitor those lovely porcelain kitten figurines on your watch list and ...

Considering Apple was adamant that the iPhone wouldn't be carrier-subsidised (the usual practise of selling a handset cheaply with a new contract, the operator making the money back via call charges and line rental), AT&T's pockets must still be feeling light after news emerged that they're paying Jobs & co between $150 and $200 for each handset sold.
