Sprint is making good on their promise to spend $100 million to promote their new iPhone competitor, the Samsung Instinct. The advertisements start running on May 9th, but the commercials are now available to view on YouTube. The advertisements very obviously take aim at the iPhone, with some shots showing the two devices side by side.

The advertisements leverage the EV-DO and true GPS that are packed into the Instinct. Sprint is hoping to use that comparison to convince people to buy the Instinct and not the iPhone. Someone should tell Sprint that the 3G iPhone, which could very well have GPS, will pack those features. No doubt Sprint’s Rev. A is fast, but so is HSDPA.
The advertisement conveniently leaves out the obvious fact that the iPhone has more screen real estate, and that it has a capacitive touch screen. The Instinct will no doubt be a good phone, but it will just not be the same appeal and wonder that the iPhone brings. So if you were looking for a tried and true iPhone killer, the Instinct is close, but alas no cigar.

I have always struggled with that. I will keep it in mind. Thanks for the tip.
I’m sure the iPhone that comes out in 2015 might have some impressive features as well. Why are people forcing the Instinct to compete against speculation about what next iPhone will be? If you think about it, most people are going to have to buy ANOTHER iPhone to get about the same features as on the Instinct. That’s a lot of cash for a phone even if it’s chock full of “wonder and appeal”. Just give me something that cool and functional. Instinct seems to fit that bill.
But you’d still have to live with Sprint as your carrier and they blow for service!
For some reason these post are always bias. I understand that this is iphonebuzz.com but lets be a bit more open to other products.
rtln, it also depends on where you live and or travel. I am using the SCH-i760 right now and still have the XV6700 and Samsungs phone sure feels better and does more then the iPhone. The Instinct should prove a very good phone. Also remember Verizon now has the 700Mhz band and will have to allow other phones on there bandwidth by contract from FCC. So it seems you won’t be stuck with Sprint. When I was in Texas I had to use the extended netwok instead of VZN and service was fine except for VZN specific updates like towers ect.

You want the honest truth? I have been with Sprint for 5 years. In my opinion, the instinct will probably be better than the current iPhone. The future iPhone, probably not. It is iPhoneBuzz, here I cater to a more iPhone fan audience. If you check Phone Mag, you will see I do not do that. I am a fan of the iPhone yes, but I certainly do not think it is the best. I can count five devices off the top of my head I think are better. As far as the Instinct though, the people who are buying the iPhone, are not going to buy the Instinct.
This is gonna be so much better than the iPhone, I’m selling my iPhone as soon as this comes out!
