If you’re a fan of Tetris, there’s an iPhone app you should download that provides a very similar experience for free. It’s called Tris and it’s currently ranked in the Top 25 Free apps on the iTunes App Store.
Tris is very much like Tetris. The object of the game is to make a solid row of blocks. Once you do this, the row disappears. Blocks drop from the ceiling and you can tap them to rotate them into a suitable position. But once they hit the floor, they are stuck that way.
The game gets more difficult as you progress because the speed with which the blocks drop increases. It can become quite challenging, to say the least!
There’s a lot to like about this game. It’s fun to play, quick and relatively easy. It provides an adequate challenge and has great response. However, I’m a bit underwhelmed. Perhaps because it is so very much like Tetris? I like Tetris because it’s Tetris. I would like to be able to like Tris because it’s Tris. But at this moment, that’s not possible.
This app is pretty good but it’s missing the sounds that make Tetris a classic!. The interface looks really simple, the colors are simple too, and honestly I still enjoy playing Tetris on my iPod more than Tris on my iPhone. I would probably wait for an update, or for that matter, buy the real Tetris for the iPhone.
