New survey shows only a 6% adoption rate for the iPhone

I’m waiting for a single week to go by where some company hasn’t spent a bunch of money doing another market survey to see whether or not the iPhone will do well at launch. It launches next month people, don’t you think there are enough surveys out there to tell us that people are very interested in the iPhone, but a large number are concerned about the price?

iPhone vs RAZR

Well, apparently this isn’t the week I have been waiting for. Markitecture has released their findings from a recent survey conducted in regards to the iPhone. Nothing shocking here, 77 percent of the people were aware of the iPhone, of those that knew about the device 83 percent said that they thought highly of the device. However, only 6 percent of those questioned said they would purchase the phone within the next year. Also not a surprise was that the top concerns were the price, and the fact that many would have to switch to a new carrier.

One useful tidbit did come from the study. They pointed out that a six percent adoption rate actually is pretty good. The MOTO RAZR which was considered highly successful only hit 6% of the market share at its peak. Also, we have to bear in mind that Steve Jobs is only aiming for 1%.
