iPhone 3G All But Sold Out

It’s Monday morning and only four Apple retail stores have the iPhone 3G in stock. According to the availability tool, you can pick up a black 16GB at the Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton, CA, a white 16 GB at Rockingham Park in Salem, New Hampshire, a black 8 GB at The Falls in Miami, FL, and all three models at Briarwood in Ann Arbor, MI,  That’s it. There’s no more.

And though new stock is arriving daily at stores across the country, if purchasing from an AT&T store, you may have to wait up to three weeks to get your hands on the newest Apple phone.

When the original iPhone came out, a similar shortage occurred, though it seems to be worse this time around  due to an international release, stretching supplies thin.

Given up on buying an iphone alltogether now.

decided the iphone lacks so many features that all phones should have. Compare it to one of the latest sony erricsons and how much is crammed into them and how much can be done with them. Then there is the iphone which cant even send picture messages with its weedy 2MP camera….

from what i have heard too the apps seem to crash all the time too.

Sorry Apple you gotta do better!

I think Apple has actually done quite well. Here is a computer/software manufacturer’s first shot at a smart phone,)or any kinda phone for that matter) and they’ve sold millions in a very short amount of time. If you ask me, its these other phone manufacturers that have gotta do better. They’ve been making cell phone from the start, but we’re not able to accomplish what the iphone did it’s first time out the box.

Here we are commenting and comparing the iphone to the other best phones on the market…. and it’s a tight race. That fact alone lets me know that the iPhone will eventually crush the competition. When Saturn first started making cars, nobody compared them to Lexus.

Also, remember that people have different uses for cell phone. I have a digital camera and don’t need a bunch of picture capabilities on my phone. I need something that easily syncs with my computer, (address book, photo book, calendar, music library), can check my email (also synced with my computer), can surf the we easily, had true GPS (google maps is the best), is stylish and easy to use. Hence, the iPhone works for me. And apparently I’m not alone… cause I can find a store with one in stock.

Are you guys sure you are reading Apple’s “Availability Page” correctly?

To me… it looks more like this is what is REALLY happening:

We get a new shipment in on Monday, but all
300 phones are gone by 9pm (so that’s what their web-site says).

We another new shipment in on Tuesday, but all
200 phones are gone by 9pm (so that’s what their web-site says).

We get a new shipment in on Wednesday, but all
400 phones are gone by 9pm (so that’s what their web-site says).

    Etc….

So is that really a “sold out, everywhere” item?
Sounds to me like that’s just “normal” instead.

To me “sold out” would instead be: “We are out… and *NEVER* get any more phones.”

Visit an Apple (or AT&T) store and ask the correct question: “When did this store last have them in stock?”
