Is it too much to ask these days just to get a straight yes or no out of someone? First there are rumors that Google is making a phone. Then the CEO of Google Spain confirms that they are working on it. Now, we’re not so sure.

Richard Kimber, managing director of Google South-East Asia kind of says they’re not working on one. “At this point in time, we are very focused on the software, not the phone.” My interpretation is that they are working a phone, they’re just developing the software that it will run on first. They’ll worry about the hardware later.

I find it rather strange that these are coming from different parts of the world. I’d really like to hear what someone from the main Google HQ over here in the US have to say about this. There’s just something reassuring about information that comes from the horse’s mouth.
