It’s been quiet here on iPhone Buzz lately and for that, I apologize. In case you missed it, there’s been a lot going on in the world of Apple in general. With the new MacBook, MacBook Pro and Apple Cinema Display, a lot of the attention has been focused there. But in case you were wondering what the Dev Team has been up to, they are now that much closer to unlocking the iPhone 3G.

The photo above shows the iPhone 3G’s baseband and the modifications that have been made to it. Apparently this fails the “integrity check” but still keeps running anyway. I call that progress!
The Dev Team notes the ability to modify the baseband is “useful” but they are unsure as to how close they are to unlocking for real.
