Google announced a sweet new app for Android 2.0 devices yesterday. The app will turn the phone into a full on turn-by-turn GPS navigation solution. Google reports that it is working with Apple to bring the Google Maps Navigation app to the iPhone. I bet AT&T tries to block it though.

Apple is nearing the approval of over 100,000 apps for the App Store marking a significant milestone. That number makes the App Store by far and large the biggest of the app offerings on the market. By comparison, the much younger Android market has only 10,000 apps and the Blackberry App World has only 3,040.

Philips has unveiled a new alarm clock dock called the Wake-up Light that has a built-in iPod dock and can wake you to music from your iPod or the radio. The most interesting feature is that the clock has a light that simulates a sunrise starting 30 minutes before your alarm is set to go off.

TomTom officially launched the iPhone Car Kit in the US Apple Store Today. If you want, your own dedicated speaker/windshield mount/GPS antenna for your iPhone the kit will set you back about $200 and ship in a few weeks.

Pepsi released a controversial application for the iPhone called AMP UP Before You Score. The app was supposed to help men seduce women while promoting the energy drink. Pepsi is removing the app after it caught heat for stereotyping women. I wonder who thought the app was a good idea to begin with.

Bloomberg reports that AT&T profits topped estimates on Wall Street mostly on the backs of iPhone customers and TV. I hope the booming profits mean that AT&T is set to fix its shoddy network and make iPhone users happy they use AT&T.

Apple has announced that it will be hosting a series of iPhone Tech Talk World Tour events in select cities around the world. The events will run from October 29 to December 15 and will be open to members of the iPhone Developer Program.
