China Unicom set to launch iPhone in Q4

Remember all those reports and rumors a few week ago that had China Unicom buying millions of iPhones from Apple sans Wi-Fi. Well, it seems that rumors were exaggerated. That said another rumor is circulating today about the deal.

According to the new rumblings, China Unicom is signing up for a three-year exclusive agreement on the iPhone. Shipments of the device are expected to start in Q4 2009. Details of the handset are unknown and there is no word on the cost of the device in China.

Details that surfaced on the China Unicom website a few months ago pegged the device to operate on the 3G/WCDMA network. The WSJ reports Apple has confirmed the deal, but offered no details.
