I got a call from a buddy of mine earlier tonight all excited that Microsoft Live Maps is now compatible with Safari and more importantly Safari Mobile. He insisted I give it a try, so I did. Two minutes into trying to use Live Maps, I realized why I don't use Google's implementation of maps.google.com on the iPhone simply because ...

The fanboy Apple/Microsoft debate may rage on, but don't doubt that both companies are viewing the iPhone as a big profit opportunity. Fortune has been talking to the Specialized Devices and Applications Group at Microsoft, who are responsible for Mac-friendly software like Office for OS X, and the team there are keen to stress that they're seeing the coveted ...

Security software developer John Sharp has indulged in a spot of patent digging over at his blog, and come up with one of Microsoft's latest: "Graphical user interface for a screen telephone". Now it might sound dull (and let's face it, unless you're a patent lawyer every patent sounds pretty dull) but there are some potentially far-reaching implications of ...

Apple's multi-touch interface is going to be great, and supposedly fairly accurate for only using your fat fingers to navigate. But what about all of the people that will stick with their Windows-based phones? They may be getting improved screens as well.

The other day we ran an article about Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer talking to USA Today regarding the iPhone. At the time, the numbers he gave didn't add up. Now with some new information they make even less sense than before.
The numbers we're looking at are where Ballmer talks about having MS software in 60-80% of the phones while the ...
