Apple just dropped the fresh new iPhone firmware 2.2 into iTunes and not a minute too soon. We have been impatiently awaiting launch for days now after reading the rumored date of November 21st. Now we welcome it with open arms.

It blows me away that the slightest fix on the iPhone yields huge results. In my unscientific side by side speed test to see which version will load SlashGear and iPhone Buzz faster on WiFi and 3G, the result on WiFi isn't that big of a deal, but on 3G - iPhone 2.01 blew 2.0 out of the water!

There's a big difference between the first gen iPhone and the iPhone 3G. Apple is moving forward with firmware updates much quicker this time around. In fact, the 3G 2.1 firmware is already being offered to developers for beta testing.
