Blended iPhone appears on eBay – bidding exceeds cost new

It took us a few days to calm poor Vincent down after he watched the Will It Blend team liquidise an iPhone in one of their awesome Total Blenders; I’m now thinking of suggesting he saves up to buy the remnants on eBay so that he can scatter them and maybe achieve some sort of closure.  Bidding for the mangled cellphone – which you can see biting becoming the dust here- has reached an impressive $570 (as of my writing this), although that does include a black blender that normally retails at $400, a DVD of the website’s first 50 blends and a signed Tom Dickson t-shirt.

Considering all you really get for your money is a small amount of grey powder, there’s no reason why you can’t make your own homage at home.  In fact, it’s probably easier than making a papercraft model of the iPhone, and doesn’t require parental supervision with the scissors.  Just tip a small amount of iron filings, gunpowder or Soviet-era flour into a bowl and tell friends that you stumped up the cash online.  You’ll be talk of the town!

Does the white lab coat come with the hefty price tag? I’d rather blend up a crappy motorazr or some other phones.

Poor iPhone – it doesn’t deserve such cruelty!

Brilliant news! There is a price for everything these days. Keeping the ashes of a loved one on the fireplace mantle pales in comparison to this bit of pop culture. May I suggest a see-through urn?
