Vuzix “Works with iPhone” cable adds 3D to iPhone

Vuzix have announced a “Works with iPhone” certified cable for their full range of AV video eyewear.  The cable not only carries Apple’s compatibility branding, but is the first to market to support 3D video in side-by-side, interlaced and anaglyph formats.

While 3D content for the iPhone is limited, the iWear range of headsets are also useful for watching iPhone and iPod content on a “larger” display.  Battery powered, the headsets include an in-line remote and headphones, and can be used with other AV sources with the included adapter cables.

The Vuzix “Works with iPhone” Apple Certified Cable will be bundled with the Vuzix iWear AV230XL, which SlashGear reviewed back in January.  It’ll also be available as an optional upgrade for other models and existing owners, priced at $39.95.

    First!

Having never tried a pair, I am wondering what the image appears to look like? Is the illusion that I am watching a 60ft movie screen, sitting center row in the sweet-spot? Or is it like holding the iPhone infront of yourself, hands free?

Under $200? If it makes watching video a joy, then I’m down.

It’s somewhere in-between, tbh. It’s the feeling of watching a relatively-large screen TV at a reasonable viewing distance (not quite a 60ft movie screen!) but the resolution isn’t huge. On typical iPod/iPhone video, though, that shouldn’t be an issue.

I reviewed them over at SlashGear:

  3. This really is by far the greatest publish I’ve identified on this matter, many thanks for making my day.
