A little more demi-news in the ongoing Euro-iPhone saga; please welcome to the stage German carrier Deutsche Telekom AG, notable for the fact that yes, they will admit to being in talks with Apple regarding clinching the iPhone distribution contract in their territory. Hurrah for openness and honesty! Sadly that’s all they’ve got for us; CEO of T-Mobile Germany, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG, Hamid Akhavan would not be pressed beyond a simple soundbite:
“We have held talks with Apple but have nothing more to say at this time”
Akhavan did, however, indicate that Apple will be making their decision “well ahead” of the holiday season, news that will undoubtedly please the legions of European users hungry for the iPhone. Some are still of the opinion that Apple will announce the European version of the iPhone in at least one territory at the IFA Conference in just a few days time; the Financial Times reported that Orange and O2 will be the chosen carriers in France and the UK respectively.
