Skype app updated for iOS4, AT&T profit beats estimates, AT&T comment on dropped calls

The Skype app for the iPhone has been updated to version 2.1. The new update makes the app compatible with iOS4 and adds multitasking support.

AT&T posted profits that beat estimates thanks to the iPhone. Earnings were 61 cents per share and the company sold 3.2 million iPhones over the quarter and gained 496k users.

AT&T offered up a comment on dropped call statistical that Steve Jobs noted were not available during the iPhone 4 conferences last week. According to one poll run by website Tech-Ex 4.5% of calls on the iPhone are dropped while the official AT&T comments claim only 1.44% of calls are dropped.

There is a big bug in this app. Here is a copy of my post on the Skype forums.

I have this issue as well.

Just to let you know the steps I have taken to try and stop this (to no avail).

I tried to delete the app and re-install, but the problem persists.

I have re-booted the iPhone and also tried a hard reset. but still the problem persists.

To make it happen you have to make a call and that call either has to be declined or fail. If those 2 things happen then Skype keeps the audio output locked to the earpiece speaker. from this point onwards all audio from the phone is sent to the earpiece until you quit Skype completely. Once you quit (not exit) Skype then all audio will go back to the speaker located on the bottom of the phone.

Make a call on Skype and completing it worked OK for me. Anyone else find any triggers for this?

This can be by far the greatest submit I’ve found on this subject, thanks for generating my day.
