iPhoneSIMFree the first to release an unlock again

by James Allan Brady on October 11, 2007

So, in the no big surprise there category, iPhoneSIMFree, the people who make money from unlocking phones, have figured out a way to unlock version 1.1.1 phones. What was nice about the iPhoneSIMFree unlock when apple release 1.1.1 was that those phones weren’t bricked, just re-locked back to AT&T. So, even better than iPhoneSIMFree releasing a 1.1.1 unlock, is that the software will also un-brick any iPhone that was unlocked with ... continued »

Jailbreak for iPhone and iPod Touch v1.1.1 released

by Chris Davies on October 10, 2007

Mere hours after the working Jailbreak for firmware 1.1.1 iPhones and iPod Touch was announced, toc2rta of the hack team has made the software available for testing.  They're looking for bug feedback, but be warned, this is certainly not going to be the final release; as it stands, if you install the 1.1.1 Jailbreak your handset will no longer sync with iTunes.   continued »

Rumor: MacBook getting a processor upgrade by years end?

by James Allan Brady on October 10, 2007

Thinking about getting a MacBook? I’d recommend waiting if any part of this is true. Apparently Apple is looking to update the MacBook lineup along side the release of Leopard. There are also hints to the database within the recent downloads RSS feed where you can find some of the apps listed. There is Blackjack 21, Solitaire, and 101 Cookbooks all for the iPhone. continued »

Thought Out PED3 iPhone stand

by James Allan Brady on October 9, 2007

It’s a rotating iPhone stand. It looks far cooler than the standard dock so you could use it for that. It would also work as a movie watching stand. Maybe just a good place to put your iPhone, maybe your wallet or ID placed below it, next to your door so you can just grab and go. continued »

iPhone 1.1.1 Hacking update

by James Allan Brady on October 9, 2007

Yesterday we got the preliminary Jailbreak, today we have 3rd party native apps running smoothly. So far the Colloquy IRC client and the NES emulator work. They also got access to the Sprinboar, which means you don’t have to use the command line to launch apps. You can apparently add up to 15 apps to the Springboard. continued »

So maybe the bricked iPhones weren’t all made so intentionally

by James Allan Brady on October 8, 2007

There is an article over at Macnn that gives a few good reasons why the bricking may not have been intentional. First they start with a pretty good previous example of Apple’s possible intentions with the iPhone from Apple’s original Mac that had no expansion slots because they wanted to avoid the lockups caused by adding random expansion hardware. They even have a quote of good old Steve saying that “The ... continued »
