Apache Lander is a game with a very basic concept. You control a helicopter that needs to land safely on the pad below. Your controls are based on the accelerometer, with left and right moving your chopper side to side and tilting forward or backward changes your altitude. So how well does this simple game play? Not so great.

We've heard from Sega's president that he thinks the iPhone is almost as powerful as their Dreamcast. That's great to hear, even though the Dreamcast was laid to rest some time ago. However, John Carmack seems to think that the iPhone is more like the PS2 or Xbox in terms of power.

Just yesterday I mentioned the grim outlook for a mobile version of WoW for the iPhone, and today I see this cool app. No, it's nothing official from Blizzard, however, it looks like it will be a useful tool for those wanting to know details about various characters and such.

Not long ago we heard that former EA big shot Neil Young left the company to found his own company solely dedicated to creating iPhone games. So what has this new company been up to? Well, they have just secured a nice chunk of venture capital from Kleiner Perkins, which if you don't recall, is the force behind Apple's $100 million iFund.

Those that know me are aware of my addiction to World of Warcraft. There have been talks at Blizzard about creating a mobile version of the game, likely as some sort of add-on rather than a full-fledged version. Naturally, the iPhone would be the perfect platform for such a title, however, with a recent merger, it's possible that this project may never see the light of day.

When you go to look for a shiny new app for your iPhone the next time, you'll no doubt notice that there are a ton to choose from. How many? At last count, the App Store had just over 1,000 programs waiting to be downloaded. In around two weeks the number of apps has almost doubled.
