We’ve looked at eBook options before here on MY iTablet, including dedicated directories and nifty workarounds, but today heavyweight electronic publisher Zinio entered the ring. Already distributing hundreds of magazines and periodicals to desktop and mobile clients, Zinio has unveiled an iPhone and iPod Touch interface that apparently works seamlessly with Safari, meaning the same pinch/flick/zoom functionality as you use with websites.

Requiring no specific client software, nor subscription to browse the “Mobile Newsstand”, Zinio promise a broad range of titles including Men’s Health, American Photo, Macworld and, ahem, Playboy, with all titles initially offered free. Navigation is via gestures and a pop-up contents table complete with summaries and links to other sections; you can also email pages directly to friends via the iPhone’s mail client.
You can try it out for yourself by visiting www.zinio.com/iphone on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

This doesn’t work on the ipod touch, it just sends you to the info page.
This looks like they are copying off the texterity system which is at http://iphone.texterity.com but texterity has a bunch of magazines that seem to work.
Crashes my iPhone Safari like mad. Plus the texterity-guys allow double-tap to zoom in, while Zinio always needs a pinch gesture.
Correction: works fine now, my bad.
Great I can read magazines while traveling on my Ipod! But wait, I can’t read the magazines I’ve subscribed, making this feature more or less useless for me.
