Shares in RadioShack are reportedly surging on news that the retailer will sell the iPhone next year. The announcement is seen as a significant positive note on the state of RadioShack’s mobile phone business.

One of the latest rumors regarding the iPhone is that Apple is set to reveal a world-mode iPhone that will run on CDMA and GSM/UMTS networks next year. If true, it could mark the end of exclusivity for AT&T and the answer of a dream for many iPhone users.

A new worm is attacking iPhones that are jailbroken and use default passwords. The worm apparently originated from the Optus mobile network and apparently other than being annoying causes no harm to the device.

I still don’t get why people “jailbreak” an iPhone? Seriously, are there not enough apps? Sure, you can also use T-Mobile or whatever, but it’s just asking for trouble, IMHO.

Jailbreaking lets you run apps that apple will not approve, like google voice, apps to tether, and apps to customize things… etc. Which is worth it if you need those things. Unlocking your phone (to use with a different carrier – T-mobile) is totally different.

This basically renders your opinion totally useless since you obviously have no idea what you are talking about… wait a second… are you a member of congress… that would explain a lot ;)

The iPhone is a powerful computing device with great capabilities which in the hands of right person can be fully exploited. Using the Apple store has the sole source only restricts capabilities. Given the money I paid for this device I fully intend to get my use out of it with or without Apples help. That being said, there are pitfalls to hacking the OS without insuring the proper protections like changing the root and mobile passwords once the ssh door has been opened. The averabe PC user is very likely not aware of this fact and needs to be educated. Cydia has information and links to the tools necessary to block these vulnerabilities.

Hmmmm why jailbreak?.. Let’s see , with my jailbroke 3gs I have total access to every file and folder on the device, I can send and receive any type or size of file I choose weather it be on wifi or 3G, I can change the total look and sound of the device just by changeing to a different theam, of which there are thousands to choose from. I can make free calls and send free text messages , I can use it as a media server and access it from my PS3 and stream picture video and audio files , I can play Nintento, GBA, and PS1 games, I can multi-task with as many apps as I want, I have free teathering, I can send and receive text messages from any app without closeing it, Free turn by turn navigation, And change any and all settings right from a drop down menu on the springboard. So as you can see there are plenty if good reasons to jailbreak and the ones I listed are just the ones I have, there are tons of possibilities with a jialbroken phone .
