PacketVideo offers live TV for the iPhone

Seems live television could be making its way to the iPhone. PacketVideo (PV) announced its mobile video application for the Apple iPhone, allowing iPhone users to watch operator-branded TV and on-demand video. The application is available immediately and will be sold via operator distribution.

The way it works is PacketVideo receiver decodes digital TV signal, and then sends it wirelessly which then is caught and play backed by the device, like iPhone. The mobile broadcast receiver is compatible with many industry-leading phones, iPhone including.

PV CEO James C. Brailean, Ph.D said, operators want to offer branded services. “The popularity of the iPhone makes it a very strategic device for the delivery of advanced media content.”
