Even though most say the iPhone is a failure of a device and quit possibly a runner up for worst product of the year, it still continues to get noticed by top media as quite possibly the best. Consumer Reports January 2008 edition points out that the iPhone has outperformed it’s smartphone competitors in many different aspects.

Hit the cut for details on how the iPhone trumps the Blackberry.
Consumer Reports gave the iPhone an overall 64, with the Blackberry Curve stooping behind at a respectable 61. Notable features that are better on the iPhone are 8.25 hours of talk time versus the Blackberry Curve’s 6.25 hour talk time, ease of syncing, and best choice for media. The Blackberry Curve did beat the iPhone solely in having real time push email, but Consumer Reports also marked the iPhone a win over the Blackberry Curve because of the iPhone’s easier and stronger email client. The iPhone wins again this round, what else can the iPhone stoop up to?
do some readers trust the opinions of a website called ‘iTABLET’ in terms of openness to non-apple technologies? Here’s hoping that readers are more intelligent than to believe this crap.
oh, and by the way, i read at http://www.ford.com that ford vehicles are really sweet – better than any other….
I don’t understand why you visit this website then? It’s clearly labeled “myiTablet”. Did you think it was going to be a website for a 2% Pasteurized Milk farm?
It’s just reporting news, and I personally like the iPhone. It’s not the best phone either, but it does deserve some credit.
freddyb – this isn’t the “opinons of a website called ‘iTablet’” – its a summary of a consumer reports review. Get a clue.
But the talk-time quote for the iphone is, honestly, crap, typing on the iphone is, honestly, crap, setting up e-mail on the blackberry is ridiculously easy… I mean come on,,, you can even change the battery in the blackberry if it runs out anyway!
See http://blogs.zdnet.com/ip-telephony/?p=2890 for more balanced comment about the CR ratings. PErsonally I will be stopping my CR subscription, I can get better reviews on the web for free.
Who are these ” Most People” ? Anyone who says the iphone is a failure is either someone who hates apple or they are just ignorant.
The iPhone is a marvel of ingenuity, not perfect by any means, but about as groundbreaking as the mobile industry has seen. Just like apple did with the iMac years and years ago, they’ve once again pushed the envelope on what our preconceived notions of a smartphone is. They’ve been bold enough (or arrogant, depending on opinion) to completely redefine how a smartphone functions and what it is capable of.
Take USB or the floppy drive for example. Apple removed the floppy from the iMac and made all of it’s peripherals USB. Removing the floppy made many people say the imac was the “nail in the coffin” for apple since “everyone needed a floppy drive”. Then there were claims of “no USB peripherals”, which also made analysts claim apple had sealed their fate. Well, 10 years after the iMac release and NOTHING comes with a floppy drive and the vast majority of peripherals are USB. Apple steers the market with their innovation. With that kind of gutsy decision making sooner or later the law of averages says they’ll have a bomb, but I HIGHLY doubt it’ll be the iPhone or it’s derivatives (although they really should give it the software features that it’s lacking; MMS, Disk Mode, multiple SMS recipients, etc.).
Let the nay sayers keep on talking. After 2 years when the mass market has adopted a lot of the features the iPhone started with then those that saw it can sit back and have a chuckle at the johnny-come-latelys.
“Even though most say the iPhone is a failure of a device and quit possibly a runner up for worst product of the year”
Are you kidding? You are, correct?
“The iPhone is a marvel of ingenuity” What is so ingenious about it? A touch screen?
What has it done that others haven’t already done? It’s pretty, but so what?
I really don’t get the love of it, is it just that its pretty?
Poor over rated under performing device.
If you dont understand it you obviously havent spent some time with it
Once native apps come out in febuary the iphone will do much much more.
yeah this site is biased…I like the curve better but I am a blackberry crackberry whore…But Honestly and realisticly it depens on what you want…
I HATE A OUCHE screen so there you go… real simple..they both have media capbalities, internet, email, etc etc etc…
but it comes down to do you want a touch screen or an actual keyboard…THATS IT!!!!!
Blackberry to me wins everytime…I have everything on my phone that the iphone has…EVERYTHING!!!! even the iphone theme…which to me is GREAT because att SUX!!!
So you really win with the blackberry curve and we dont even want to talk about the Blackberry bold 9000 coming out…
Hey I.$.H.,
You say you have on your Blackberry everything the iPhone has. really? Where is iTunes, oh, you don’t have that, or the fact that the iPhone is an actual computer??? You forgot that. Leading experts give Rimm and the Blackberry a few years and they are gone with the wind. Bye Bye. You hear me. You can’t keep up… It’s Apple and Android not Rimm anymore… Your in the past baby, no need to hate… Just take a bite out of the BIG APPLE!!!
